Garden Visits
Little Haseley Court
An unashamedly romantic garden full of theatre and trompe-l’oeil . Highlights included magical riverside walk, formal parterre and most dramatic of all, a great topiary chess set.
Rofford Manor
A garden with a distinctly modern feel. Breathtaking in its simplicity was the white garden with raised lily pond surrounded by box hedging and cones. A picnic with wine was organised and held in the meadow whilst the group discussed the gardens in more detail.
The Grove
This garden epitomises the term ‘Green Architecture’ and demonstrates David Hicks mastery and vision. In parts the ground.was sculpted in geometric designs using clipped box and the use of colour for furniture, containers and treillage was also inspiring.
Footnote
Our coach became firmly stuck in a jam and to our amazement internationally acclaimed actor Jeremy Irons leapt into action, directing traffic as we looked on in disbelief!
