Garden Visits
Gresgarth Hall
We were shown around by the Head Gardener and were treated to a stunning garden. There were some fantastic elements, pebble mosaics, a huge topiary lion, fascinating statues and serpentine hedges to name but a few.
Levens Hall
Another treat awaited us as we were shown around the gardens by ex Blue Peter gardener and now Head Gardener at Levens, Chris Crowder. Chris gave us a hair –raising demonstration of his large scale topiary techniques, climbing, balancing, and hanging off all sorts of apparatus - he deserved a Blue Peter badge for that alone!
A banquet was held at Holker Hall which was started off with champagne and canapes on the terrace in the wonderful late afternoon sun. The evening closed with the customary auction and as usual Don Tozer had the audience in stitches with his auctioning ‘techniques’!
